One Year

That's for how long I've been running my website. Maybe it's just me but doesn't it feel awesome to have your own website. You can tell everyone: "I have a website". To be honest. after some time I didn't do much on my website. Like I started very motivated and got a new post almost every week. But after a few weeks it dies off. My last post was a while ago. My motivation dropped like a rock. And I don't intent for that. I was busy with school/work/reallife.

Let's first talk about the first year of my website. I started creating a Laravel project and added features like authentication, ability to create posts and projects, and hosting the website (You can read more about it in my first blog post: How I host and deploy my Laravel website). During that time I've learned alot. The basics of Laravel, server management, advanced features like authentication. And I will continue to learn. Not only Laravel but more technologies, programming languages, management. Work-related or just my own curiosity.

For the next year I have a few goals to work on.

  • I want to create my own admin area. As much as I like Filament, it doesn't feel 'my own'. Filament is awesome don't get me wrong. You can easily create a crud for resources like posts and projects but I want my own thing. Where I can customize everything to styling and features.
  • New feature: comments. Users that are logged in can create comments on my posts and maybe projects (not sure about it yet). This is an awesome feature that makes my website more alive with content.
  • A settings page for users where you can change your name, email, etc... This is a nice update for you.
  • Did you know I have one more website? During my spare time, I am also a gamer and I have a website with some information about that. The name is based on my gamer name which I use often: 'iAmTerod'. You can visit it here. It doesn't have much content but I also want to change that.
  • I want to make a few of my previous projects open-source and publicly available on GitHub. During school I've created projects, either alone or in a team. And I want to make them freely available to showcase my work.

And there are probably some small things that I will be working on.

I'm looking forward for the next year of my website. Where I try to make more posts. Not every week but I hope I can create one atleast once per month.
